Coronavirus update

This is a difficult time for all and we are praying for people to stay safe and well.

At the moment we are closed to people staying overnight.

All going well, we hope to open again from July 4th in line with government guidelines, though this may change.

If you would like to make a booking for a retreat in July, August or September we will waive the current cancellation fee and offer to postpone the booking if necessary. Meanwhile, we are keeping the Labyrinth mown and garden weed-free.

We hope to see you all soon.

As we packed up last week to make space for the Casserleys, who will arrive at the end of December, there was a distinct sense of anticipation in the air.

Winter is well and truly set in.  The wild life has hunkered down and the earth is taking a well...

What a perfect time to have a few days on retreat!  The nights are drawing in, the temperature is dropping, Strictly is on the telly, Christmas is 56 days away, the stoves have been serviced, the heating is working, the blankets are warm and fluffy and we are serving m...

We are delighted that Martyn, Naomi, Holly and Aisa Casserly (L-R in this picture from the coastal path) have agreed to join us in January 2019 to continue the work we started when Treargel opened its doors as a home of retreat in 2016....

We have now hosted a couple of longer term guests at the Hermitage and necessity has proved to be the mother of invention.  Whether it is cold water, or warm water from a thermos/water warmed on the log fire - a shower is possible!  Our latest guest sent us a picture o...

We received an email from a visitor this week saying they had "had their socks blown off by seeing a Kingfisher" down by the Hermitage.  What news!  We have spent the last few days moving logs from the Hermitage up to the woodshed and as I was standing down there alone...

We are proud members of the Association for Promoting Retreats (APR)  We pay a small fee each year to the APR to enable up to three people per year to come to Treargel without suffering financial hardship to do so.   Additionally if p...

The sun has started to shine.  Tended with the rain and the warmth, the garden is growing faster than we can weed.  There are sheep and lambs in the field, ducks, herons and deer in the woods.  We have very little availability for the Byre but the Piggery has space for...

Much excitement last week at Hendersick when we discovered that we are next door to a new find.  As quoted by the BBC "An intact earthenware pot thought to date back to the Bronze Age has been unearthed in a field in Cornwall. The pot, which is 12in (30cm) high, is abo...

March 20, 2018

Having walked a very snowy labyrinth the other day the urge to make a snow angel in the centre was irresistible!

We still have snow on the ground here but signs of spring are everywhere.  There are new lambs in the fields and many many toads doing their reproduc...

The car was abandoned at the bottom of the hill this afternoon (along with the rest of  the cars from Hendersick). We anticipate a thaw before our next retreat guests arrive on Monday!
