If you feel like some time out before the Christmas craziness, we currently have a few spaces in the first two weeks of December. We've also just cut a load of logs, so plenty to keep you warm by the fireside.

New Year reset

After the busyness of Christmas, New Year is a great time for a reset. Spending time on your own in some peaceful and beautiful surroundings.

It’s a chance to look back and re-evaluate your year. Not being judgemental, but noticing the highs, lows; the things to learn, and joys to savour.

It’s also a good time to be present for a few days, doing things that replenish your soul. For example going on scenic walks, doing a favourite hobby, or reading by the fire.

Lastly, it’s a time to look forward, to set intentions for the coming year. Not ones that tie you down with guilt, but that bring you joy. Using what you learnt from the evaluation of last year, your values, and gut instincts. An intention to live your own meaningful life. As Viktor Frankl points out, meaning is different for each person but essential to us all.

It is great to do this in a liminal space, somewhere different from your normal setting. Even if it’s just a coffee shop, park, or perhaps a cosy cottage, in the captivating, Cornish countryside;)

We do realise, however, that times are hard at the moment, so if you need to pay in installments, or get help from the Bursary, please say. And don’t forget, if you know a teacher who desperately needs time out, tell them about our Teacher’s Bursary. (Church of England schools). Up to £150 off.

Pictures

These pictures were taken in and around Treargel, except my brother with our mug (£16 incl p&p). Thanks to my family and friends for their wonderful modelling, (over my lifetime, and here;).

I will leave you with thoughts from a recent Byre guest.

“I had a fabulous time at Treargel, I just wanted to write and say thank you. What a magical place you have carved out, the setting is beautiful, I so appreciated letting the quiet sink into my bones, and the labyrinth was an unexpected bonus - thank you for the guidelines about how to make best use of it, they were very helpful.
I love the way you have fitted it out, so beautifully and thoughtfully. I appreciated the well-equipped cooking facilities, all the little details like washing up liquid, oil, salt and pepper, (and even a clean, environmentally-friendly dishcloth!) made it so easy to be there. I felt at home from the moment I arrived”.
